Beyond 20/20

What is Developmental Vision?

Developmental vision care is an expanded area of optometric practice. Your developmental optometrist will test for specific visual skills that are often not examined. We use lenses and prisms along with vision therapy activities to change poor visual habits and develop more effective visual skills. Vision therapy helps individuals learn to use their eyes more efficiently to achieve better vision.

There's more to vision than 20/20.

We are not born with 20/20 sight or good eye-hand coordination. The visual system is continuously developing or adapting throughout a person's life.

Our doctors perform specific tests to determine visual performance levels. Visual clarity or 20/20 sight is only one of many visual skills. These special tests include:

Refractive Status Range of Focus

Eye Teaming Skills

Motor Free Visual Perceptual Testing

Form Perception

King-Devic Standardized Reading Test

Convergence/Divergence Abilities
